How to buy a NFT on the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain ?

We are going to explain it all to you, from A to Z. Don’t worry, it’s not as complicated as it could sound ! If you want to buy NFTs on the Polygon blockchain, you’ve come to the right place!

Foremost, you will need a digital wallet to access your cryptocurrencies. We recommend Metamask or Rabby, which are the market leaders.

Go to Metamask website, then click on “Install” to get the software. If you are on a computer, use the Google Chrome (or Firefox) browser — otherwise, download the mobile app.

You can now create a wallet to store your cryptocurrencies.

Click on “Create a Wallet”, select a secured password, and then carefully store (on a PRIVATE notepad, on a piece of paper that you hide, or whatever) the 12-word “Secret Recovery Phrase” that Metamask shows you. It’s very important.

Congratulations, you have a working wallet ready to be used !

Your Ethereum address starts with 0x (here 0x328…) — just click on it to copy it.

It will be the same address — whether you are on the Ethereum network, Polygon, Binance Smart Chain or another, do not worry about it.

Actually, your Metamask is set to be on the Ethereum network. We will change it to Polygon by going to Chainlist website.

Click on “Connect Wallet” at the top of your screen, then type “Polygon” in the “Search Network” box.

You will have to find the “Polygon Mainnet” (note that the ChainID must be 137). Then click on “Add To Metamask” and you will be on the Polygon blockchain.

The hardest part is done, now you have to fund your wallet. To do this, you can use a platform like Binance, Coinbase or even MoonPay.

With Binance, you just need to log in, buy the token called Matic by clicking on “Buy”, and then click on “Withdraw”.

You will need to enter the address you retrieved earlier (starting with 0x…) and be careful to select the “Polygon” network (and not the Ethereum network).

Wait a few minutes — you will receive your MATIC, allowing you to trade and buy NFTs on the Polygon network.

If you don’t have a Binance account, go to Moonpay and enter “MATIC — Polygon” in the search field.

Then click on “Continue”, add the address you retrieved earlier (starting with 0x…) — then enter your payment details.

Wait a few minutes — and you will have received your Matic, allowing you to trade and buy NFT on the Polygon network.

When you get your Matic, you can go to the site where the NFT will be available, then click on the “Mint” button to receive it.

Depending on the project, you may need to convert your Matic into another token (USDC, ETH or other…).

To do that, it’s very simple: go to the Matcha website, connect your Metamask on the top right, select the Polygon network, then choose the token you want to receive in the “You receive” part, then put your number of Matic in the “You pay” part.

Be careful, always keep 1 Matic to pay the transaction fees of the blockchain. You can then validate and enjoy your new tokens.

Once you have purchased your NFT, it will be visible on your OpenSea profile by connecting with your wallet. You can sell it by clicking on the Sell button, or buy another one if you wish.

You can also buy on OpenSea. On the project OpenSea page, you will have to click on the NFT that you wish.

Then click on “Buy Now”. You will have transactions to confirm, and then your NFT will arrive. Wait a few minutes.
